Kyusho Jitsu

Kyusho Jitsu, the striking of pressure points, is a precise art and requires an exact knowledge of the location and use of small targets on the body; different points having different functions.  The pressure points used in kyusho-jitsu are the same points used in acupuncture.  Generally speaking, a pressure point is a place where energy can be transmitted most effectively into a nerve.  There are 361 pressure points in the human body, scattered across 14 meridian channels.  The meridians upon which the points are found are related to the various organs of the body.

While different points work together in different ways, these pressure points usually cannot be activated simply by striking them head-on.  Each and every pressure point has a particular angle and direction at which it must be struck or pressed to produce the correct desired result.

The proper striking of a pressure point stimulates the points on a particular meridian and has a noticeable effect on the corresponding organ.  The healer manipulates these points with fingertip pressure or needles (acupuncture) in an effort to restore and maintain a proper balance of energy in the body.  The kyusho-jitsu expert attacks these points in order to disrupt the balance of energy in order to defeat the opponent.

Street Self Defense

For Adults, ages 16 and up, we offer strictly street savvy.  We will give you the confidence needed in today's climate.  We do this by teaching you several different styles such as Kyusho Jitsu (pressure point striking), Tuite Jitsu (pressure point grappling), Street Tae Kwon Do, and American Boxing.  This is an on going program.  Students are tested at regular intervals and belt ranks are awarded.  Uniforms are required.  These classes are for anyone, regardless of age, size, weight, or physical ability.

Tae Kwon Do

Tae Kwon Do, literally translated "the art of kicking and punching", is the Korean form of Karate, or oriental "open-handed self defense".  We study the Moo Duk Kwan style of Karate.  To begin to learn this beautiful art, the product of centuries of dedicated development, the student should approach it with humility, which is the beginning of knowledge, respect for the instructor, and a sincere desire to learn.  From these fundamental attitudes, the student proceeds into the deeper knowledge of the art.  What appears on the surface to be merely "kicking and punching" turns out to be much more; a treasured art which rewards its serious students mentally, spiritually, and physically.

Children ages 7 thru 15 learn the basics of Tae Kwon Do.  They are tested every few months on their physical abilities, their commitment to the art, and their behavior in and out of the school.  They are required to maintain the best grades in school possible for them.  After reaching Brown Belt Level, students start to conduct classes.  This helps them learn to plan ahead, teaches self-confidence, makes them think things through, and encourages them to help others achieve a goal.

Police and Security Personnel

Police and Security personnel are taught pressure point control techniques (PPCT).  While PPCT is a good introductory course in pressure points, it falls extremely short of the pressure point techniques taught at Midwest Martial Arts.  We teach the Dillman Method of Pressure Points.  The Dillman method goes into a deep study of the human body and how the body responds to the use of pressure points for use in real
street encounters.  Armed with the knowledge we give at Midwest Martial Arts, police officers and security personnel can feel much more confident in restraining and arresting people.

Specialized classes available at group rates.

Women's Self Defense

In this day of uncertainty, with crime rising and violence escalating, women need to know how to defend themselves.  Unfortunately women are not as big and strong as men, so many sport self-defense techniques DO NOT work.  Kyusho-Jitsu, the art of pressure point fighting, puts a woman on an even playing field.  Size and strength no longer matter.

At Midwest Martial Arts we teach you how to strike the pressure points in order to incapacitate a much larger person.  Pressure points are the only true way for a woman to defend herself against a stronger and larger opponent.

Group rates available for minimum class size of 10.
