Our Catalog So Far:

(minus all the Dits CDs, which are here...)

HRCD-001
The Sediments "Capitalism, Inc. 1998"
The most popular cassette release from Home Recordings’ early years becomes the opening salvo of a new chapter. Newly remastered versions of the Reagan-era rants, bizarre instrumentals, twisted covers, and quirky anthems. Bonus tracks include the entire "Blasphemous Music" EP and the Illinois-inspired "This Must Be The Heartland". Pink Bob at his best. Autographed by Pink only.

HRCD-002
Hellington Country "Total Tuesday"
The first in a series of "House of Chadponk" releases, "Total Tuesday" finds Eugene Chadbourne with an awesome ensemble hitting the hot clubs of Europe, performing both Chadbourne originals and twisted psychedelic country. From the jazzier end of Eugene’s spectrum, this is a full-length document of a master improviser with his most impressive band since Shockabilly! Autographed by Eugene.

HRCD-003
Slow Cattle "Tip"
Home Recordings co-founder Edwin Pierce teams up with David Hodges (a.k.a. Secret Dave) to deliver a debut release that is as disturbing as it is soothing. While Pierce’s music covers the globe with country, rock, jazz and improv roots, Hodges’ lyrics hit the road with a mounting yet unexplained body count. Also features The Spelunkers and many others!

HRCD-004
Eugene Chadbourne "Horror Pt. 1"
The second "House of Chadponk" disc is Eugene’s tribute to "horror monsters and bad luck", and it features the band he’s been touring the US with recently (Conroy/Minogue/Good). Original compositions, twisted Irish standards, and huge slabs of full-out free improv are to be found in abundance. Features artwork by Eugene and his daughter. Autographed by EC.

HRCD-005
Michael Perilstein "God Dares You To Buy This"
The master of B-movie soundtracks presents his latest collection of synthetic instrumental material. Fans of Ralph Records and the subsequent T.E.C. Tones label know of Michael’s work; for the rest of you, imagine one of The Residents with classical training and you’ll be in the ballpark. The package is delightfully blasphemous as well, both in text and artwork. Autographed.

HRCD-006
Eugene Chadbourne "Wild Partner"
This all-new "House of Chadponk" CD is a survey of Eugene's work with other guitarists. There are many examples of Eugene's banjo playing, with very few pre-conceived ideas here. It's all spur-of-the-moment, seat-of-the-pants improvising, as only Eugene can do. With Duck Baker, Loren Mazzacane-Connors, Davey Williams, and Tony Trischka. Autographed by EC.

HRCD-007
The Sediments "Liars, Cheats and Acid Freaks"
Who would have thunk it from a band presumed to be dead: The first new Sediments material since their ‘93 Tiny Tim sessions constitutes their best effort to date! Pink Bob and Matt Seniff team up with Tony San Filippo, Tommy O'Donnell and Trefan Owen to take on the religious right, time wasters, certain members of the Supreme Court, machines, Charlie Heston, the music industry, the Taliban, crusty bigots, childhood demons and more. A stunning disc by our old favorites!!! Autographed by all five band members.

HRCD-008
Eugene Chadbourne "The Intellectual and Emotional World of the Cockraoch"
Another facet of the mega-project "Insect and Western", this disc contains music that was too weird even for most of EC's regular I&W contributors! As a result, a large amount of this CD was realized with his vingage (and great-sounding) reel-to-reel multitrack. As if one Eugene weren't enough, here you can hear many Eugenes all at once! Autographed by EC.

HRCD-009
Clock & Body "The 19th & 20th Centuries"
Ann Arbor-based studio wizard Gerald Siclovan produces a wide range of music here, including extremely experimental compositions, music-poetry mergings and quirky songs. Jerry is one of those few people who manage to get to the heart and soul of electronic music rather than just stringing together bits of presets that come with any given instrument. Highly recommended for those who are serious about electronic music and unusual composition. Autographed by the artist.

HRCD-010
Eugene Chadbourne "Normalized"
A very rare example of a complete live Chadbourne solo set--every single note--from a magical gig at a local club in Normal, IL. Features rousing banjo playing, wicked rake solo, and burning dobro medleys with a collection of songs and improvs that will be a must for any fan of Dr. Chad. A full-length audio event documented by Home Recordings and autographed by the mad Dr. himself.

HRCD-011
David Greenberger's Duplex Planet "I Still Feel Like Myself"
This long-lost collection of recordings was produced by the brilliant (and under-rated!) Frank Pahl and has a bulk of the playing performed by the Only A Mother gang and their friends. Combines the wisdom of previous Duplex Planet projects with the musical zaniness of Pahl & Co. Humorous beyond imagination and featuring that wonderful voice of regular NPR contributor David Greenberger. Autographed by Greenberger and Pahl...

HRCD-012
The Something Brothers "The Early Year"
The debut release from the most impressive band ever to come out of McLean county. Blending progressive and art-rock leanings with pop, rock, and a touch of psychedelia, The Bros. had a little something for everyone. Includes a substantially remastered version of the original release, plus all the "lost" songs from the same sessions, as well as a number of other bonus tracks. Sorry, these aren't autographed.

HRCD-013
The Something Brothers "You, Me and The Circus"
This one contains a gorgeous-sounding remastering of their second cassette, plus the follow-up that was unfortunately shelved until after the band broke up for their "final" cassette release. Well, throw all them old hissy cassettes away because this is the real deal. In many ways their best material. Not autographed...

HRCD-014
The Something Brothers "Sparky"
Their final proper studio "album". After endless touring, inventive recordings, a catalog of unusual songs too deep to count, and even a triumphant showing at CBGB, it all blew apart and spawned countless other impressive ensembles and recording projects. This was their slickest recording as well as their most popular. Complete with bonus cuts, including the epic "Hard Hat Job", recorded live and available for the first time anywhere. Unautographed.

HRCD-015
Skot Lee Wilson "Old Ghosts Die Hard"
And speaking of The Something Brothers, here is what ONE of the ex-Bros. did after the band split up. One of two lead vocalists from the SoB's, Skot decided to pen a new album's worth of songs and record them over at Pink Bob's, with Pink doing the bulk of the arranging/producing/engineering and fellow Brother Tommy O'Donnell and current bandmate Tim Thomas (grainbenders) providing most of the guitars. Not at all like The Something Brothers, though of interest to SoB fans. Also unautographed.

HRCD-016
Shmaz "Natures Table" (Live 1/30/83)
Without Shmaz there never would have BEEN a Home Recordings, as the nucleus of this peculiar audio commune first rallied around the unfurled banner of an unlikely "Circus Rock" combo. This CD was taken from a fantastic early performance by the classic quintet of Scott Lucas, John Dickison, Jeff Michel, Brian Keys and Pink Bob. It's a weird world where ducks drive fire engines, Plastic Girls roam free and masochists from Texas inquire about "Total Shit Mummification". If you like early Zappa, give this one a go! A little over one hour, not autographed.

HRCD-017
W.T. Fits "Fits' Greatest (1998-2000)"
From the guys that brought you the latest reincarnation of The Sediments comes something completely unexpected: mind-bending studio multitrack improvisation that is surprisingly engaging. If you're not sure about improvised music or if you are sure but prefer things with more substance than random blowing, this is for you. Highly recommended.

HRCD-018
Pink Bob "The MIDI Years, Vol. 1"
While Pink is known mostly for is group efforts with the likes of The Sediments, Shmaz, The Dits, W.T. Fits, etc., he has also had a very prolific solo career. This CD includes his first tapeless project "Music for Computers" as well as a number of previously unreleased demos and odds and ends from various compilation releases. Much of it is soundtrack-like, all of it is good. For the most part, this is very tonal and spacious sounding. Originally recorded in the late '80s and early '90s...

HRCD-019
Matt Seniff "The Milk of Digital Kindness"
The eclectic multi-instrumentalist from The Sediments, The Dits, and W.T. Fits turns in a solo debut that's as unexpected as it is good. Known mostly for his slide guitar and guitar synthesizer work, instead Matt concentrates on computer-based composition with Sonic Foundry's "Acid" software (as featured on The Sediments' "Liars, Cheats and Acid Freaks" CD). The result is almost bordering on techno, except a) it isn't boring, b) it doesn't suck, and c) it's unlike anything else you've ever heard. A nearly-all-instrumental collection of fascinating musical studies that will find its way into your CD player again and again.

HRCD-037
The Sediments "Capitalism, Inc. 1986"
The original incarnation of this early Home Recordings classic cassette release was vastly different from the subsequent versions that surfaced in 1992 and 1998. For one thing, a number of the '86 songs were dumped in favor of newer material and a few of the original tracks were completely re-recorded by a different line-up. For another, any of the original recordings that were used were remixed a year later in a project studio with modern digital effects. THIS version is taken directly from the final assembly master that was made on Beta HiFi in 1986. Includes the long-out-of-print instrumental "Son of Bob Doody" as well as excruciating covers such as "We're an American Band" and "Watching the Wheels Go 'Round". A couple of hundred lucky people ultimately purchased the original cassette release; here's your chance to get the New & Improved spiffy digital version that reveals all of the nuances of this classic four track masterpiece!

HRCD-044
Various Artists "Passed Normal Vol. 1"
COMING SOON! The lovingly-remastered version of the original vinyl LP that started it all and put Home Recordings/Fot/Ponk on the map. Features live tracks by Snakefinger and Skeleton Crew, rare studio demos by Shockabilly, brilliant offerings from central Illinois recorded in the mid-'80s and much, much more. Available April 2002.

HRCD-045
Various Artists "Passed Normal Vol. 2"
COMING SOON! Originally entitled "Passed Normal, The Cassette", this was the cassette-only companion to the critically acclaimed LP. One hour of vintage audio madness that features even more live Snakefinger, former Henry Cow mastermind Tim Hodginson, live Shockabilly, and a slew of indie cassette favorites from both McLean County and abroad. Available May 2002.

HRCD-046
Various Artists "Passed Normal Vol. 3"
Originally available only on C-60 chrome cassette, this brilliant compilation has been rescued from the original Beta HiFi master and given the Sedistudio treatment to make it sound downright amazing, given the original sources. Intended as a stop-gap volume to generate revenues on a shoe-string budget for the upcoming Vol. 4 CD, this one ended up being the big sleeper of the entire series. Only about 300 cassettes were ever made, which is a shame considering the depth and breadth of the musical terrain that's covered. Features Curlew, Amy Denio, Tom Cora, Frank Pahl, Zeena Parkins/Wayne Horvitz, Tone Dogs and Rudy Schwartz Project as well as local favorites such as Pink Bob, Slow Cattle, The Something Brothers, That Hope and Voodoo Mark. Highly recommended.
