Dan Rutherford to Headline Woodford GOP
Lincoln-Reagan Day Dinner March 6

Senator Dan Rutherford (R-53) will be the keynote speaker at the annual Lincoln-Reagan Day dinner of the Woodford County Republican Central Committee on Monday, March 6, at Riggert's Die Scheune, 1348 Riggert Rd., Metamora. Sen. Rutherford will speak following the dinner. County, State, and regional office holders and candidates will also attend.

Rutherford is currently seeking the Republican nomination for Illinois Secretary of State. In 1980, was appointed the Executive Director for Ronald Reagan’s victorious campaign in Illinois. He was subsequently offered a position on the presidential transition team, but chose to remain in Illinois. While on a business trip to Japan in 1984, he became familiar with the ServiceMaster Company. A year later he joined ServiceMaster, a Fortune 500 Company, which is headquartered in Downers Grove. Today, he is International Vice President with the company.

Sen. Rutherford was first elected to the Illinois Senate in 2002, following a 10-year term in the House of Representatives, where he served as the Assistant Republican leader. As a member of the Senate, he is the ranking Republican serving on the Financial Institutions Committee, and also acts as a member of the Environment and Energy Committee and the bi-partisan Joint Committee on Administrative Rules. He represents all or portions of Champaign, Iroquois, Ford, LaSalle, Livingston, McLean, Vermilion and Woodford counties.

A native of Pontiac, Senator Rutherford began his career serving as a Legislative Assistant to State Representatives Tom Ewing and Betty Hoxsey following his graduation in 1978 from Illinois State University, where he served as Student Body President.

The dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a "meet and greet" session with office holders and candidates. Dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m. A limited number of tickets are now on sale for $30.00 per person and may be obtained from Woodford County Republican precinct committeemen and office holders. The Lincoln-Reagan Day dinner serves as a primary source of operating funds for the Central Committee and for the Eureka College Young Republicans.

Woodford County Republicans chose to honor President Ronald Reagan’s contributions to the Nation and to Woodford County by adding his name to the annual dinner event. President Reagan attended Eureka College and was well known throughout the community in his early days. They are also encouraging other county Republican organizations to do the same.
