2004 Lincoln-Reagan Dinner Set For March 8

The 2004 Woodford County Lincoln-Reagan Day Dinner has been scheduled for Monday, March 8 at the Donald B. Cerf Center on the campus of Eureka College, President Reagan's alma mater. GOP chairman Jim Booth of Germantown Hills has appointed Bruce Kieffer, committeeman from Cazenovia Township, chairman of the program. Tickets are $30.00 per person and are available from any Woodford County Republican precinct committeeman. Fyke said that the event will kick-off at 6:00 pm in the "Burgoo," the campus snack bar, for a meet and greet session with local and regional candidates and office holders. At 7:00 pm, dinner will be served in the Eleanor Terrill Rooms. Chuck Jording will provide music for the dinner.

Dinner will be  followed by the evening's program which will feature a keynote speech by Congressman Ray LaHood, at approximately 7:30 pm, in the G. Raymond Becker Auditorium.

Congressman LaHood Congressman Ray LaHood is serving his fifth term in Congress. He represents the people of the 18th Congressional District of Illinois, which is approximately the same district Abraham Lincoln represented during his service in Congress.

In the 108th Congress, he serves on the powerful House Appropriations Committee, the panel that oversees federal discretionary spending, and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. He is the Chairman of the Terrorism and Homeland Security Subcommittee and Vice Chairman of the Intelligence Policy and National Security Subcommittee for the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Within the House Appropriations Committee, Representative LaHood serves on the Agriculture and Legislative Subcommittees, as well as the Veterans Affairs, Housing and Urban Development, and Independent Agencies Subcommittee. He is Vice Chairman of the Legislative Subcommittee.

Roanoke committeeman and councilman Trent Monge will serve as the master of ceremonies for the evening. Following the keynote speech, El Paso auctioneer Terry Wilkie will conduct the traditional chairman's auction to raise funds for the Eureka College Republicans, comprised of current students of the College.
